Throwback Thursday: Chauvinists, Sexists, Misogynists (and Car Hoons)

The cause of it all, according to Hillary!!!!

Hillary's idea of who is a 'chauvinist', Donald Trump.  I agree that while he may have said a few things that can sound 'chauvinistic', none of his comments were a huge issue to many other celebrities (even female celebrities) until Ms Clinton was competing against Mr Trump and then lost out to him.  Then, of course, misogyny was well and truly 'alive and well'.

Here is a YouTube video showing his roasts of people (the one of Megyn Kelly is at 23:37, or 23 mins and 37 secs, saying she has 'blood coming out of her eyes and you-know-where else).  Another video shows him roasting Megyn at 6:12).

2017(c) Colleen Sedgwick: The Donald!!!

Another type of 'chauvinist/sexist/misogynist': The Car Hoon.  They are terrible people and  'misogynists' in my opinion, because most of them are male and most of their targets happen to be female.

I did these back in 2010, during my Cartooning and Illustration course.

Here is the ad it is based on: Speeding - No one thinks 'big' of you!!!  In other words, the guy guilty of driving too fast, is doing it to show off in front of his mates.  However, no one (not even his 'mates') are impressed, let alone the women who happen to have him speeding past them.

Perhaps this is the real 'toxic masculinity' that women and (sometimes) other men may experience.  Well, it has certainly been like that for me: not 'big time' celebrities like Trump (or Anthony Wiener, or Harvey Weinstein, or <insert celebrity's name here>), not 'Rock Stars' like Tommy Lee or Axl Rose, or even Hip-hop artists like Kanye West or Eminem.  And certainly not men in 'important' positions of authority, like a teacher, a priest or police officer.

They are the kind of 'random guys' that like to pick on other random people, and scare them.  And they think it is funny to do so.  Or maybe they just think they are having 'a bit of fun', not knowing (and probably not caring) how other people may be affected by their behaviour.

Either way, it is a very funny ad which has the main purpose of 'driving home' the idea that showing off in your car is not very impressive to those around you; and that may make you think twice about doing it.

And it also reminds everyone else that they don't have to put up with it.

cheers,
Colleen 🚗🚘🚓🚔
