Wednesday Whinge of the Week

Working on my UX/UI Assignment right now.  For those who don't know, UX stands for User Experience (the experience the user has with a particular software or phone application) while UI stands for User Interface (the interface or interaction between a user of a computer or other device and the device itself; or the user and the software they are using).  Anyhow, this is what it entails.

This is an 'old school' or vintage post done with Adobe Spark.  I quite like it.  And below is a newer version of the post with 'cooler' colours and more modern fonts.

Anyway, it's like the former has more of the 'hard' skills and the latter has more 'soft' skills (and some more graphic design skills like Design research and Branding, as well as adapting to different work environments).  In other words, not just the 'bare bones' of web design.

Anyhow, I did my mind maps and my mood boards for the assignment.  Then I was 1/2 way through when I decided to 'pack up' (shut down the computer) so I could go to sleep.

But when I went back to Canva, I accidentally deleted my wireframes and I am a bit cranky with myself.  Also, I was annoyed with Adobe because XD wasn't working like it was supposed to.  Anyhow, I think I got to the bottom of it and found out the reason for my technical hitches.

But here's one example of what I did with Canva for that Assignment (I saved that one to the phone).  Luckily, I saved my wireframes as PNG documents, so not all is lost.  It's much easier to edit them on the computer than it is on the phone.

This isn't strictly relevant to the topic I am working on, but it gives me some idea with what may be expected of me.  I chose a website and a blog.  I felt it would be useful for people wanting information and resources for a particular medical condition or disability.

A blog is easy to update.  You don't have to be an expert computer programmer or IT specialist to be able to blog.  You just have to be computer literate and internet savvy to some extent (which I hope I am).

So keep your eyes and ears peeled for more updates: in case I forgot to mention on Blogger, I am doing a Certificate IV in Screen and Media and one of the topics I am working on is UI and UX design.

And yes, you're all welcome.

Cheers
Colleen
