Tumbalong Lights | Come and Play!

This is another favourite part of the Vivid 2019 Festival and I learned about this from a friend who posted a picture of the Alien Visitor on Facebook (I think with her kids).  Almost as good as the Eco-bots and Evolution Island instalments.

This one was probably a bit more 'kid friendly' as well as 'inclusive' for people with disabilities.  The installations also celebrated 50 years of the first moon-landing back in the 1960's, when the first 'earthlings' landed on the moon.

My sister, who now manages some of the 'outreach' programs in the ANU (at Mt Stromlo on the outskirts of Canberra), would love this.  And my nephew (who is now studying IT and VR through TAFE) might also be interested in this, as it would probably encompass 3D animation and maybe even gaming (an area he wants to specialise in).

Though there are no video games in any of the installations, there was one particular installation that also attracted my attention, titled 'See What I See'.  The person was a visual artist who used facial recognition to get people to try and see their faces the way he saw them and how I imagine their faces to look if he was to draw a portrait of them.  He was also 'on the spectrum' (i.e. has autism or Asperger's).  His pictures weren't particularly sophisticated, but his use of technology (and the idea behind it) was.
