Throwback Thursday: All in the Family (A very interesting discovery)

My sister has just made another entry in her blog, Defying Gravity, using the hashtag 52 Ancestors.  The entry is titled So Far Away.  As it turns out, the records indicate linkage to the British, French and Dutch Royal Families from way back.  For all we know, we could be related to the Queen!!!

It also turns out, we are related to Winston Churchill - what was so special about him was that he was the British Prime Minister during WWII, having formed alliances with both Britain and America to defeat the Nazi Regime in Europe.  In other words, he was a hero to those who favoured British Nationalism, but to his critics, he was a British 'Imperialist' who wasn't too fussed about other races and cultures!!!

How is this relevant to my art work?

Here is a portrait I did whilst a student at Julian Ashton.

1990 (c) Colleen Sedgwick: Face Portrait (5) - mistake here, I guess the ears need to be more in line with the eyes and eyebrows, but otherwise, a very good description of him 😄

Here is what he really looked like.

And this is a more recent photograph of him.
