I am not going to go into how and why people (and frogs) turn 'gay', but pollution can have many profound effects, including cancer, various respiratory problems and (surprise, surprise) mess up peoples' (and animals') hormones.  And that can be worrying!!!  It is hard enough if you are a kid and growing up, let alone being subjected to the pollutants and chemicals that can affect us.  That is probably why I can relate to this (and most of the time, see the funny side, even though Mr Jones obviously doesn't find it amusing)!!!
