Overall Feedback:

Part A – Formalising the design brief.

You have researched the products (brochure) and the objective (holidays) of the project and this has prepared you for generating your initial ideas.

Part B – Design and layout exploration.

Report and Artwork. You have explored many page layout options. It was good that you used basic shapes to represent the components in order to organise the page layout at the early stage of the design. You have continued this and further developed the page layout using the software.

Part C – Creation and implementation.

Report and Artwork. It was good to use placeholder frames to help you design the page layout before placing the images. Good use of tools like guides and margins to help keep within the image area. It is best to set up the fold lines first. Use a three column without a gutter then drag guides from the rulers. Lock these guides to a layer then add the gutter and margin because the way you did it is incorrect and the folds will not land where you have planned them to be. Let me know if you need further clarification. I found the DL flyer template at: lotsa.com.au
Good examples of WHS and professional work practices. Good technical specifications but A4 not letter for the paper size. It is best to work to the A series standard page sizes and always contact the supplier for advice and the correct specifications.

Part D – Evaluation and critiquing.

Report and Artwork. You have provided examples of the feedback received from your peers. Include an evaluation of your learning and plans to improve on any areas you identify in order to improve the grade.

Part E – Proofing and pre-press.

Report and Artwork. Good visuals to show you export process. I am very impressed with your comprehensive checklist. Good for preventing and identifying errors. Always ensure that the images are used to scale or smaller and that the resolution is equal to the output specification. It is good that you have included colour correction and image editing to work practice. Always prepare images before placing into the final document. Good that you have considered the print and crop marks but contact the supplier for advice because these marks are not always wanted, just a bleed limit, printers will put the printer/ crop marks.

Part F and G – Brochure publication. Publication Artwork and Travel guide publication.

Publication Artwork. Very good collection of graphic, image and text components.  Good use of shape to separate information and to help make the text readable. Good application of typography. I like the drop caps for the 10 count down but the (10) can be confused for 1°. Including a map was a good idea. As a general rule avoid headers that span across fold lines. The text above the images is difficult to read. Good idea to experiment with styles/ effects to resolve this but in most cases white type would have worked. The background pattern/ image portrays the holiday theme but use sparingly under text. Better to have dark type on white. Readers are used to reading long documents in this style. It was good that you set up a margin and columns to align the components and text. Good idea to include the games and activities like the word search.

Good work. No need to include the assessment task within your report. I have attached resources to help you use creative suite collaboratively and this film is a bonus. Helvetica: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWE34Eg8OnI
