Holistic Feedback
Strengths - Lots of exploration and discussion of ideas
Areas for Improvement - Try to include notes that explain your thoughts, evaluations etc on your design process. What do you think works and why.
Specific Feedback
Communication Piece
• 1.1 – Design Idea (Original Idea for product or service of learners choice)
• 1.2 - Pitch Techniques (At least 2 Different)
• 1.3 - Your Audience (Arrange at least 2 people to participate in discussion about the concept/idea)
• 1.4 – The Pitch – Presentation to target audience – Using the pitch techniques discusses and researched - Outstanding
You introduce your pitch by explaining who the client is and what their need is, well done. It is good to see examples of other designs, options for fonts, colours, graphics, textures etc.
However you need to include notes with these samples that explain your thoughts - what your think works and why, how you tested the suitability of these ideas against the requirements of the brief.
You have identified a target audience but this could be explored more. For example, are they primarily the same age group and gender as the blogger, what other interests do they have, lifestyle etc. It would help to clarify the technical requirements at the beginning as part of defining the brief. What size and format does the banner need to be and where will it be seen, positioned?
You have done well to get a lot of insightful feedback from the forum. Following up on others’ comments with your own thoughts and a thank you is courteous shows others you appreciate their time.
However for your second pitch it would be good to see you using a completely different technique, for example presenting in person, so that you get a more broad experience. Satisfactory
Written Reflection
• A written reflection based upon learners experience, considering any feedback received - Outstanding
Well done presenting your design process in an infographic. They are a fun way to show complex information to the reader but can be challenging to boil down the essence of this information into an easily digestible form. Your other documentation shows how you Your other documentation shows how you have addressed the criteria for this part of the assessment although there is a lot of unnecessary detail (Facebook conversations I think) that make it hard to follow. The report would benefit from including images to show which design you are currently discussing and to show which design was the final chosen one. - Good
• In the form of a written statement, infographic, website or journal
• Ensure to address the following:
o 2.1 The importance of experimentation and exploration to develop conceptual skills and ideas (and techniques?)
o 2.2 Effective strategies for gaining experience in a range of genres and interpretations
o 2.3 Influence of the study of the work of other designers and artists on your design process
o 2.4 How you will use exploration, experimentation in a range of mediums including online
technologies to develop your own voice
o 2.5 Overcoming barriers and challenges to develop new designs and ideas
o 2.6 Your understanding of different ways of communicating ideas for different purposes and to
different people
o 2.7 How you addressed any communication challenges in this unit of study, your assessment pieces
o 2.8 How you used the feedback and ideas of other people to refine your original ideas and concepts
Satisfactory
I would like to see how you used the design work of others to influence you more, eg critiquing others work and identifying styles or elements that inspired you.
